FLEXIBLE ROCKFALL BARRIERS
Rockfall barrier kits able to stop falling rocks with energy beyond 11.000 kJ
Falling rock protection kits manufactured by Geoformica S.r.l. barriers combine speed and easy assembly with lightweight of the whole kit, because the post sections and all the components have been optimized; furthermore, the base components, such as the energy dissipation devices, are made of aluminium (lightweight and durable material).
The low weight helps handling of the kit even in hard site conditions, as rugged slope or irregular ground, but also means savings on transport costs.
Geoformica S.r.l. rockfall barriers were full scale tested according with European Assessment Document EAD 340059-00-0106 (former Guideline ETAG 027).
Taking into account of test results, for each barrier was issued the European Technical Assessment (ETA) and, on the base of this, each kit obtained the Certificate of Constancy of Performance of construction products in accordance with the Regulation (UE) n. 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
The main interception layer consists of a continuous net, placed along the whole length of the downslope side of the barrier, thus forces are distributed along the barrier, reducing the stresses on the foundations.
In Geoformica S.r.l. kits posts are hinged at the base and kept in place by upslope bracing cables; nevertheless, kits without upslope bracing cables can be supplied as well, thus to face installations in places lacking in space, or where is necessary to minimize foundations’ drilling length.
The energy dissipation devices absorb the applied energy by deformation and not by friction. They guarantee high performance with high energy absorption: this allows lower forces on anchors and limited structure deformations.
