SNOW NETS FOR SNOWPACK STABILIZATION
Snow net kits for stabilization of up to 4 m thick (Dk = 4) snowpack
RFN and RFN CE snow net kits series were designed in order to achieve components’ optimization with respect to the historical and well known triangular snow nets, in order to have stronger and easier-to-install systems.
Snow nets are modular and flexible structures to be installed in lines to break snowpack and aimed to avoid avalanches’ triggering: snow nets are NOT designed to stop a moving snow mass!!
Thus the most important part of the job is the correct location of kits’ lines along the slope (in starting-prone avalanches’ areas) and the accurate stake-out of posts and anchor points.
Years of field experience allowed the development of versatile and easy-to-use cable-made trace out tool, making staking-out faster and easier and reducing mistakes. Inaccurate stake-out and installation can cause unexpected load distribution, with prejudice of the whole kit performances. In the supply stage, components are delivered to the jobsite with clear identification labels, and their placement is unambiguous: installation manual explains step-by-step and with immediate drawings the logical assembly procedure.
Main retaining layer is made of a wire rope net panel, continuous along the whole barrier length and placed upslope to the posts’ line. Posts represent the supporting structure.
The retaining layer can be made with junction of rectangle-shaped net panels one to each other, and connecting them to proper upper and lower longitudinal steel wire ropes running along the whole stretch OR, following the traditional layout, creating a sequence of triangle-shaped net panels fixed to the top of the posts and to the anchors with single connection ropes.
An additional secondary net (double twisted wire mesh or chain link mesh, with mesh opening according to local snow rheology) can be fixed up upslope the main retaining layer, in continuous way or in alternate bands.
RFN-CE snow net product line was designed according with the EAD 340109-00-0106 and obtained the Certificate of Constancy of Performance of construction products in accordance with the Regulation (UE) n. 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
